This oil cooler is designed to run the oil off the head plate and through the cooler to help keep your motor running cooler. It is almost like buying insurance for your motor by installing an oil cooler on it. In the dead of summer, riding XR style trails and not going fast will make your motor run much hotter also. This cooler works efficiently from racing or trail riding. You have to also think of the added volume of oil it will have in the motor by adding this in.
